Blue Photon Technology is now part of the Factory Tooling Solutions product portfolio. The patented adhesive workholding system gives manufacturers another option for securely holding thin-wall, delicate, and complex parts while reducing clamp interference and improving access for multi-axis machining.

Every machinist we know has run into that one part that just doesn't want to cooperate.

Factory Tooling Solutions is pleased to announce that we now represent Blue Photon Technology & Workholding Systems, bringing one of the most unique workholding technologies in manufacturing to the customers we serve.

Instead of relying solely on mechanical clamping, Blue Photon uses a patented combination of precision grippers, UV-cured adhesive, and specialized curing equipment to securely hold a workpiece during machining. Once the part is located on its datums, the adhesive cures in seconds through the gripper, creating a rigid bond that stands up to demanding machining operations while leaving more of the part accessible to the cutting tool.

The result is less clamp interference, fewer custom fixtures, and the ability to machine features that would otherwise require multiple setups or creative workholding. Shops are using the technology for everything from thin-wall aerospace components and medical implants to composites, ceramics, optics, additive manufacturing, and other parts that simply aren't well suited to traditional vises and clamps.

Blue Photon isn't intended to replace every vise or fixture in the shop. It's another tool in the toolbox—one that becomes extremely valuable when conventional workholding starts getting in the way of making good parts.
